The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant by Rainer Werner Fassbinder
Directed by Brian Jucha.

Premiered June 1992 at a site-specific location in New York City. Presented by Via Theater.

Jucha, heavily inspired and influenced by the legendary German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder presented this landmark production of Petra Von Kant as a tribute to its author on the 10th anniversary of his death. By setting the work in a small intimate site-specific environment, he forces the audience to become voyeurs into the the horrors of obsessive love and loss.

Petra (art)

"Brian Jucha's strong production is an intimate and sculptural chamber piece, performed in a parlor that gives the play an intense voyeurism. Eerie and sad, the sharp ache of Petra's masochistic love rings through the empty room long after the play is over."
